Oh, so sad. Harriet McBryde Johnson, one of the great leaders and fascinating writers in the disability community, has died at the age of 50.
Kay Olson over at the Gimp Parade has a nice tribute and a wonderful list of links to her work.
This from the NYT:Mag is one of my favorites. It is called the Disability Gulag.
Oh wow! I just read her book last summer. Never knew about her until then. And now she's already gone. Damn.

Just wanted to say that I had never heard of her before, but I clicked on the link to the NYT article and really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing it with us. What a shame she won't have the chance to write more like it.

I had also not heard of her. I enjoyed the NYT article so much that I am now reading her book, too late to die young. I'm sad for all the people she touched, who will surely miss her, but I'm grateful for all that she wrote, which ensures she'll stay with us as long as we're here.
