The kids got their first haircuts today. I did them myself. Aaron's took all of 30 seconds. His hair is so thin and short that he just had a few long straggly pieces. Naim's was becoming a mullet-y mess. The bangs were relatively short but the back could be stretched out several inches and bounced back into tight curls. The main problem with Naim's hair was that it was getting really tangled in the back all the time, and he got to the point where he was afraid to let me touch it and try to get the tangles out. I tried that detangler stuff, but it didn't really help. My dad wanted me to take him to a salon and get it professionally cut, which I thought was ridiculous. D wanted me to take clippers to it, but I thought that would freak him out and I didn't want it that short. So I sat him on D's lap with some crackers and just used barber scissors and cut just a tad off the bangs and then layered it around the sides and back, but just really short. It is not perfect, but it isn't half bad either. It will do for a two-year-old. He was really good during it. And his hair is sooo much easier to comb now. No more crying and flinching. It made me sad to cut his hair though. I don't know why mothers have such a deal over that. Its just that it was his hair, untouched since birth, you know?
A before shot taken a week or so ago. See those curls? They go crazy long and tangled in back.
After. Naim has finally figured out how to smile for the camera.
I tried to get him to turn around to get a shot of the back, but he requested that I take a picture of his elbow instead. Naim is really into elbows right now.
...And it just wouldn't be right to allow the other elbow to feel left out.
And one of a messy, sticky Aaron with one mitten, so he doesn't feel left out. You probably can't tell that he got a haircut as well.
Great job on the haricuts. Your kids are so cute.
